Kick Ass Concealer

28 April 2014

As some of you may know, it was my birthday Saturday (sorry for my irregular posting, I'm a bit all over the place and need to sort out a schedule!) And when I went shopping with my Mum before my birthday for presents we went to Boots where there was a three for two deal going on for all brands. I really needed a new concealer and wasn't sure what to get since although I love Collections overage, it doesn't match my skin tone at all and it's difficult to hide! I decided on the Soap&Glory Kick Ass Concealer, it costs £10 which is more than I would usually pay for a concealer (I think, I've ever only used two..) but thought I would never buy this usually and Soap and Glory is a pretty trustworthy brand! But I was  a bit skeptical because I hand't heard much about the concealer before.

Firstly, I love the packaging. It's plastic but I like how it's small and compact and I don't know, I just like the colours and think it's really cute. I also like how it has steps on it to show you how to wear the concealer and which bit to put where. I'm still getting used to putting on concealer this way though, I'm used to the application process from concealers like Rimmel Wake Me Up with the wand thing, like a lip gloss thing..wow..great describing there, but I hope you get what I mean!

Other than loving the packaging, I love the product. The under eye concealer really helps to hide my bags and I like how it's easy to blend in. The one for blemishes is also really good. It's got a kind of clay like consistency but doesn't feel gross on your skin at all, in fact you can't feel it at all! It provides really good coverage and I like how there's also a powder to use to help set the concealer, even though I do find it a bit hard to open that bit. It also has a handy little mirror in case you need a touch up during the day, but I've also found it lasts a really long time.
It doesn't look that big though and I'm not sure how long it will last, but hopefully a long time because I really love it! The only problem I have with it is that it's a bit too light for my skin tone, but I can easily hide that little fact. I got it in the lightest shade (light) and I don't think they have much of a colour range but I can't really remember

If you have £10 to spare on makeup, I really recommend this concealer, you won't regret it! Then again, I haven;t ready any other reviews to see how other people feel about it, but personally I think it's great :) I was going to give you before and after pictures of using it, but I forgot, sorry!

Also I went to see McBusted on Saturday and I don't think I'm ever going to get over how much I love them, I have been none stop listening to Busted for the past two days...man I miss them but McBusted were absolutely amazing, I want to go every night!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

20 April 2014

In a post I done a while ago, I showed you guys the new BB cream I brought and said I'd do a review and today is that day!

I don't really know if I apply it right, or put enough on because when I see some people put BB cream on, they use loads! But I only use a bit.

I tend to wear BB cream when my skin is quite good but just needs a little coverage. It has a light coverage but I'm sure you can build it up, but then you may as well use foundation I personally feel.

I usually wear it for school as well, but I've noticed that the earlier I wake up the blotchier my face is, I don't know if everyone gets this though and is just a normal thing. This means that when I put it on though it doesn't completely give my face an even skin tone, but as I get on through the day my skin become even and looks really natural. Also since I have really dry skin, I like the fact that it claims to hydrate all day, I'm not so sure if it does do this, but it definitely doesn't dry out my skin!
It claims to:

  • Blur imperfections
  • Brighten
  • Even skin tone
  • Sooth
  • Hydrate
  • Enhance
  • Protect with SPF 30
  • 0% oils and heavy ingredients
And to be honest, I think it does all these things! Except blur imperfections, but you can use concealer for that!

It doesn't make my skin break out either which is obviously great, but I've read some reviews where people said it gave them really nasty breakouts, so I guess you have to be careful!
Before

After (also wearing blusher and bronzer on my face here along with eyeshadow and eyeliner..but you see the difference!)
Just for the record, I really struggled with lighting for these picture, so apologies that these aren't the best, but I tried! Today really wasn't the best day for me to wear BB cream since my skin is a mess, but for the purpose of this post I have :) I don't think you can really see in the pictures though my terrible skin, but in real life...

In summer I feel this will be perfect, it feels really light on your face and has SPF 30. It also brightens your face and just gives a really nice natural look.

The only problem I have with it is I really don't like the smell. I cant explain it, but personally I don't like it. It doesn't last through out the day though but when I'm applying it, I really don't like it.

I really like this BB cream, but I have never tried anything different so I have nothing to compare it with. I would definitely buy it again, but I think for now I want to try a different BB cream so I can compare and decide which I prefer. Any recommendations?
Sorry for the lateness of the post, I was stumped what to do!

Unicorn Top

11 April 2014

For ages I've wanted a top with a unicorn on it, then on Christmas I finally got one, but I haven't shown you guys it yet! I wear it all the time so I'm surprised I didn't show you!

I got it off eBay [here] and at first I got an XL I think, because I like baggy, but it's one of those tops that's baggy but like the bigger size you get the longer it gets rather than wider, if that makes sense? Anyway we swapped it and got this size instead, but I'm not sure what size it is.
When I first got it I planned on tucking it in to my high wasited jeans/disco pants (even though I don't have any disco pants) but I usually just wear it untucked. It is nice tucked it, but you when you go to tuck in a top that's too long and it goes all weird and bulky? It does that, but you can fix it, it's just quite the chore!

I like the pink colour of the top and think it will look perfect with a tan.
I think in summer I might wear it as a dress, since it is so long, with a pair of short shorts underneath just in case. I'm not sure if it will be long enough, but with a pair of shorts underneath it will be fine I reckon.
At the moment though I usually leave it loose over a pair of leggings or jeans, sometimes I tuck it in if I can be bothered. It is a bit long, but if you roll up the sleeves it looks fine I'm note sure why it just makes the top seem kinda shorter, in my opinion!

Today I wore it with my Joni jeans from Topshop, they're so comfy, I basically live in Joni Jeans.
I paired it with my black New Balances, which are again so comfy, I feel like I'm walking on a cloud! And black socks with glitter round the edges from Primark :)

Accessory wise I wore a gold necklace with little triangles on (as you can see on the pictures) which is from Urban Outfitters a veeery long time ago, but you can buy something similar in Primark now!:) I also wore my anklets, as you can see, which are from Menorca but they're more of a thing I wear all the time so this piece of information is kind of pointless...
You can't really see my bracelets, but on my nails I'm wearing my pastel pink scented shade from Models Own, I can't be bothered to get up and find the actual name of it but there's a post about it here, with a Barry M textured pink nail varnish on top which has little flecks of gold in it which you can't really see from the picture. To see the actually nail varnish I'm talking about, I was going to give you a link but I can't find when I brought it, and to be honest I'm going through my old posts and cringing a lil bit, it wasn't even that long ago! Well to be fair I'm cringing at the state of the pictures more than the content, then again I'm not even reading the content, I'd probably cringe just as much!

The ring on top left...your left I think..basically the one with the stone, was from Menorca too and was only like 1 euro, I think! It was really cheap, and the gold and black ring are both from Camden, it was such a good deal, five of these rings for £2! Finally, the Coco Chanel ring I just found lying round my house.. I cant decide whether I like it or just think it's chavvy, but I think I like it..

I really want more types of tops like this, I might order more off eBay or get one similar in Camden, since I'm going soon and I think last time I saw similar stuff. But yeah I love the unicorn and think it's so cute, and it goes with a lot. Also it's casual but once you've rolled up the sleeves, I feel like it looks perfect!
Where are some of your guys favourite places to shop? I really need some more ideas, also somewhere that still wears disco pants!? I had another question for you guys and now I can't remember...oh well! Thanks for reading and see you soon :)x

Bourjois Mascara Review

6 April 2014

Bourjois is kind of a hit and miss thing for me. Some of their things I love, like the Healthy Mix Foundation, but some I hate. I have tried two of their mascaras before; one I absolutely loved and another I absolutely hate. I've been meaning to review them for ages for you and have finally gotten on to it, so here we go!

Probably my all time favourite mascara is this one, the Bourjois Liner Effect mascara, waterproof, in black. It has a thin wand and I don't know how to explain but the bristles are really spikey and densely packed. This doesn't sound like an advantage, but it ensures that the mascara really separates your eyelashes and covers each one fully, so you have no worries of clumps/all your eyelashes joining together. It really helps my eyes to stand out and make my eyelashes seem an kind of long, I have super short stubby eyelashes so this is a really good thing. I would say though it probably works best on people with short eyelashes and a lot of volume because it really spreads them out and make each eyelash seem noticeable and long. I'm not sure how well it would work with people who don't have much volume in the eyelashes since I personally feel like the whole reason the wand works so well is because it helps to make each individual eyelash appear long and fans them out. It costs £9.99 which is rather expensive..but it makes my eyelashes look so nice and I recommend anyone with short stubby eyelashes like me to try it too.
It takes a bit longer to put on than some mascaras, because its such a small brush, but personally I think that tiny bit of extra time is worth it. It is a little tough to get off, since its waterproof but it's not too bad.

The other mascara I really don't like. It is Bourjois Volume Clubbing Waterproof Mascara. It is a really thick consistency which on me, just creates loads of clumps and makes my eyelashes feel all horrible and sticky. It does help to give eyelashes a little bit of volume, but the wand is quite fat and unlike the one before which kind of combs your eyelashes, this one doesn't and isn't that great when applying. I think also that you need to use it quickly because it got very clumpy after I had it for a while. This one is £7.99, and I definitely wont be repurchasing. It's too thick and gloopy and the wand is pretty darn bad in my opinion, however I have also seen loads of people who love this mascara, so I guess it really depends on the person.

I was going to take pictures of the mascara on, but I couldn't get a good shot! Also sorry one of these pictures is a different colour to all the rest, it was an emergency snap!
What are some of your guys favourite mascara? I feel like I should be more experimental, but I am super happy with the Falsies by Maybelline at the moment :)
